Soquel Elementary has been educating local youth since the 1850’s. Soquel Elementary has occupied its current site on Porter Street since the 1890’s, and occupied the current building since 1921. It has been an integral part of Soquel Village for a century and a half, and holds a special place in the community as an historical landmark.

 

Soquel Elementary School serves 350 students, ranging from Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade, with a variety of needs. Soquel Elementary School is a place where educators, parents, and students are actively involved in the learning and the growth of all members of the school community. Soquel is committed to high achievement for each student through a balanced, rigorous and integrated educational experience in partnership with the home and community.

 

Teachers, administration and classified staff are dedicated to providing a rich and rigorous educational experience. We pride ourselves on our strong literacy and math programs that include engagement, targeting instruction, and differentiating to meet the needs of all of our students. Students also solve real world problems at Soquel Elementary with Project Based Learning, where they identify problems, integrate research into their learning, and present unique solutions. We believe that these approaches allow our students the skills and knowledge to be 21st century learners, and meet or exceed the common core standards. Social emotional learning is also a priority for all of our students with our high quality counseling program, peer mentorship, and student leadership opportunities.   

 

Soquel Elementary offers all of our students the opportunity to enjoy different enrichment programs with the support from our parent community. We are very proud of our music and art programs and are especially excited that we offer all students the opportunity to experience the arts on a weekly basis (or more!). Our students love the hands-on approach to music, and take great pride in the art that they are creating. Soquel Elementary also offers after school enrichment opportunities, such as enrichment classes and an annual Spring play.
